Dear Faculty Colleagues,
Happy Tuesday and welcome back! I hope that you had a restful break and have returned energized and ready for the Spring 2025 semester.
This semester will provide continued opportunities to help shape the work of our colleges and the futures of our students. We worked together this past Fall to avoid a serious financial crisis by ensuring the passage of Prop 486, but the District must still determine how to move forward financially. On January 14, at 4:30 pm, the Governing Board will host an Agenda Review and Study Session where Lee Ann Bohn, Chief Operating Officer, and Kim Granio, Vice Chancellor of Business Services, will explain the new Budget Allocation Model that will take effect in July 2025. I encourage you to either attend the Governing Board Meeting in person at the Rio Salado College Conference Center or to watch the live stream meeting.
Throughout the Fall, the Faculty Association also hosted Brown Bag sessions conducted by our legal counsel Barton Mendez Soto. Because of the popularity of these presentations, we are looking to host more Brown Bags this Spring. If you have suggestions for topics that you would like covered, please let me know.
Finally, the Faculty Association will be migrating to a new and improved website this Spring. Look for announcements and updates about the move.
The work we do makes a difference in the lives of our students and the strength of our community, and I want to thank you for the dedication, passion, and expertise that you bring to your colleges. Let’s continue to collaborate, support one another, and embrace the challenges and rewards that come with our important work. I look forward to the many achievements we will share this semester.
All the best,
Ramona Goth
Faculty Association President 2024-2025
